No more stay home mom...

Yup! I'm going back to work! I started looking for job since 2 months ago, sent out more than 10 applications, and finally I got a job!

Why want to go back to work?
Cos I want to help Hubby out with the financial burden. Beside the house back in Kuching, we have bought a new condo here in Butterworth. Hubby and I decided to settle down here in Penang. Therefore, with 2 houses, 1 car, 1 baby, study loans, etc... it's quite heavy for him to handle all these by himself.

How about Samuel?
We decided to send Samuel back to Kuching and let my Mom take care of him. We will only bring him over to Penang again when he is much older... maybe when he is 3 years old. By then we can send him to nursery or play school. As Samuel's quite weak and he fall sick easily, we think it's better for my Mom to look after him. I know we are going to miss him a lot, but we have no choice. We will fly back to Kuching on 7 Nov, and will celebrate Samuel's first birthday on 12 Nov. Hubby will fly back to Kedah first and I will stay back with Samuel till I start work. Hope Samuel will be fine with Grandma... :)

What job and where?
I am so lucky as I am going to join the same company as Hubby and it's a semiconductor factory. Yup! Back to the old field, but not the operation team anymore. Tired of the mid night call and working on weekends... I'm going to join the QRA team, more to office work. So, it will be a new experience for me. My first day to work will be on 3 Dec. I am so excited about it!

I pray that everything will go smooth and Samuel will be fine back in Kuching.

I'm not getting lazy! I still want to blog!!

wao! I didn't know that it has been almost 1 month since I last posted something! haha...

Not that I am getting lazy, there's too many things happen within this 1 month...

First of all, I was sick for 1 week, got flu... a serious one... My nose and ears were blocked, couldn't breath and couldn't hear a thing. I got it from Samuel. After the UTI, Samuel got flu the next week after he discharged from the hospital. My poor baby lose a lot of weight. Hubby also got sick that week. aaa!!! Better take more Vitamin C to boost up our immune system.

Then was the laptop! I woke up one Monday morning and I tried to connect to the Internet but I couldn't. I don't know what happen and I got so frustrated as it was my only "entertainment" at home when little Samuel is sleeping. Hubby tried to "cure" the laptop for many days, but he failed and he gave up! He reformat the whole thing last week. Now it can log on to Internet! But I think it won't be "healthy" for long. I got an email from Facebook Security Team this morning, saying my Facebook account has been suspended due to some security issue, and maybe my account has been hacked by someone. CRAP!! I could not log on to my Facebook... ah!! The email also said there might be some kind of virus in my computer. I'm afraid it's true as I keep having this message popping out from time to time asking me to key in some weird words for security verification. I ran the anti Virus to scan my laptop, but didn't find any suspicious "thing". Maybe because I didn't update the anti Virus. I tried to update, but I failed, I don't know why... Well, need to wait Hubby to come back tonight and see.... AAAA!! Fed up!! I wanna get new laptop!

There's so many thing that I wanna share and post! But I lost the Photoshop! I don't feel like posting the photos before Photoshop-ed! *wink*.... So, got to wait for few more days... Anyway, we are going back to Kuching in 2 weeks time. We are going to celebrate Samuel's 1st birthday back in Kuching. Samuel and I will stay back in Kuching for longer time, and Hubby will come back to Kulim first, as he needs to work. Hopefully I can use the PC back home to blog... hehehe...

Trip to Bukit Tinggi

We went for a 2 days 1 night stay at Colmar Tropicale Bukit Tinggi Resort during the last Hari Raya holiday. It took us about 6 hours to reach there. Nothing much about the resort... We just visited the Botanical Garden and the Japanese Tea House. We missed out the Rabbit Farm as we were rushing to KL to see doctor (Samuel was having fever).

Our room:

The resort:

The food was nice... especially the dinner buffet...

Some photos from the Japanese Tea House and Botanical Garden:

Samuel looked so tired in the last picture, and he got sick the next day. We decided not to bring Samuel to anywhere else for the near future. Have to wait until he is bigger as his immune system is too weak.
Daddy and Mummy pray that Samuel will grow up to be a healthy boy!!

Hospitalized

Samuel was hospitalized for 5 days due to urinary tract infection. It was a painful experience...

It was Hari Raya holiday and we went to Bukit Tinggi, Colma Tropicale Resort to stay for 2 days 1 night (19 Sep-20 Sep). We then went to KL on 20 Sep to visit my uncle in Klang. We planned to go Setiawan with him the next day and headed home to Kulim after staying one night in Setiawan. But when we were on our way to Klang, Samuel had a mild fever, around 38 degree. My uncle brought us to a clinic nearby his house to see doctor as soon as we reached Klang. As it was Sunday, and also the first day of Hari Raya, most of the specialist clinics were closed. The doctor said it was only mild fever, so he gave us some medicine for the fever, some antibiotics and flu medicine.

Samuel's fever come and go... but got worse around 1am (39.5 degree) and he started vomiting. I could not feed him milk and the medicine. We brought him to see doctor again around 2am. The doctor said Samuel need to be admitted to the hospital. As we were not familiar with Klang area, we decided to went home to ask for my uncle's help. We all thought that maybe because he didn't take medicine, that's why his fever never went down. My aunt helped me to feed Samuel the medicine and wipe Samuel's hands and legs with wet cloth. His temperature went down after 1 hour and he went back to sleep, that was about 5am. We thought he was fine and went back to sleep.

Samuel's had fever again at 9am as we were getting ready to drive back to Kulim. We brought him to the same doctor first before we headed home. The nurse inserted the medicine from Samuel's backside. Samuel's temperature went back to normal after 30minuted and we quickly drove back to Kulim. We reached home around 3pm, and we managed to give him medicine during the way back so his temperature was normal when we reached home. At around 6pm, Samuel poo poo in his diaper. As I opened his diaper, Hubby and I saw red color in his diaper. Hubby was pretty sure it was blood. I was scare and could not say a thing... We immediately got up, changed our clothes and drove to Bagan Specialist Center in Butterworth. We reached there around 7pm and admitted to the ward around 7:30pm. The nurse said the on call doctor would only come around 9pm. So we waited... But we waited until 10:30pm and the doctor still never show up. We were really angry and discharged from the hospital. We went home as we saw that Samuel's diaper was clear with no blood stain and his fever had gone. However, when Hubby called his colleagues and asked them which hospital in Penang is better as we planned to bring Samuel to the hospital the next morning.

At 1am, 22 Sep... I woke up to check on Samuel and he was REALLY warm... I took his temperature and it was 40degree. We rushed him to the Island Hospital in Penang. He was admitted to the hospital, under Dr. Koh Chung Tuan. Doctor did the urine test and blood test on Samuel... As Samuel kept vomiting and never take milk, he was on drip. Bacteria was found in Samuel's urine and it was infection. He was given antibiotics immediately that morning. Doctor said he need to be warded for 5 days, 1 antibiotics each day...

Samuel had no more fever after day 2 but he was on drip for 2 days. They removed the drip on the 3rd day but they kept the needle head, that's where they injected the antibiotics into Samuel's blood stream. I will never forget how Samuel screamed in pain whenever the nurse gave him injection... It was so heart breaking.... Changing diapers for Samuel during that time was so difficult for me. I was so scared to open his diaper... The red color blood on the diapers made me felt uncomfortable... I kept asking the nurse when his urine would turn clear, as he already started taking antibiotics. No exact answer on when... they just asked me to be patient... No one know how I felt that time... I was so helpless...

It was not easy and I nearly collapsed... Luckily my sister, Christine was here to help me. She flew from Kuching to Penang the second day. Hubby had to go back to work on 24 Sep. If not Christine, I had to take care of Samuel alone in the hospital... and I was very sure that I was unable to do that. Thank you, my dear sister...

Samuel's urine turned clean on the 4th day and he had his ultra sound scan to check on his kidneys. His left kidney a bit swollen due to the infection. He's back home now. No more fever and his urine is clear now but still on medication. We need to bring him back on Wednesday for check up.

Please pray for my little baby Samuel, so that he can recover soon...

Here are some informations about infant urinary tract infection:
(Adopted from Baby Center)

a) Symptoms

• Crying or another indication that urination is painful
• Odd-smelling urine
• Cloudy or bloody urine
• Unexplained, persistent irritability
• Vomiting
• Fever
• Refusal to eat

b) Prevention

• Be sure your baby gets plenty of fluids. Drinking more make your baby urinate more frequently, flushing out her urinary tract.

• If your baby has started solids, offer her plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

• If you're breastfeeding, continue until your baby is at least 7 months old, if possible. Studies have shown that nursing for this long may protect against UTIs — and that the benefit persists, even after weaning, for up to two years.

• If your baby is a girl, avoid irritating her genitals with harsh soaps and bubble baths. And wipe from front to back when you change her diaper, to minimize the bacteria in the area.

10 months old

Oh! Mummy's little prince is 10 months old la... haha...

Samuel is such a cutey and honey pie to Daddy and Mummy. Everyday, no matter how tired and frustrated Daddy was at work, but when he sees Samuel when he comes home, he will forget all about it... Samuel on the other hand, will greet Daddy with his widest smile, showing out his 4 and a half teeth, whenever he sees Daddy stepping in from the main door.

Mummy's little prince is getting taller lo... The picture on the left was taken when he was 7 months old and the one on the right was taken 2 days ago. :)

"Samuel honey, no matter how big you grow, you will always be Daddy and Mummy's little baby."

Stir-fried Pork and Fried Cabbage with Egg for dinner

It has been so long since I last posted a recipe... haha... feel a bit guilty about it... :p
So, I tried a new recipe last night... :)

Stir-fried Pork

Ingredients:
300g Pork loin, thinly sliced
1/2 tsp Salt
1 Egg, beaten
2tbsp Corn flour, mixed with 8 tbsp water
1 3/4 tbsp Chinese cooking wine (花雕酒)
3 tbsp White vinegar
1 1/2 tbsp Light soy sauce
2 tbsp Sugar
1 cup Cooking oil
1 Spring onion, chopped
1cm Ginger, knob, peeled and shredded
1 clove Garlic, peeled and sliced

Method:
1. Place pork slices, salt, egg and 2/3 of the corn flour mixture in a bowl. Mix well and leave to marinate.
2. In another bowl, prepare a sauce by combining cooking wine, vinegar, light soy sauce, sugar, 3 tbsp water and remaining corn flour mixture. Set aside.
3. Heat oil in a wok and slowly lower pork slices in, one at a time. Deep fry for 2 minutes or until golden brown. Remove pork slices and drain oil from wok.
4. Return pork to work and add spring onion, ginger, garlic and sauce. Stir-fry for a few minutes to heat and cook sauce. Garnish and serve.

And as for the vegetable, we had fried cabbage with egg. It's really simple. No onion, garlic or ginger needed... haha... I cook this dish quite often as I don't like to cut onions, garlic or ginger... very time consuming... :) Just heat the oil in the wok, throw in the cabbage (finely chopped). Add some salt and stir-fry until the cabbage is cooked. Beat 2 eggs in a bowl and pour onto the cabbage. Stir-fry until the egg is cooked. Serve. :)

Samuel calling "ma ma"

Samuel going to be 10 months old in 9 more days... Two days ago, I heard him called "Ma Ma" for the first time. I could not explain how I fell that time... happy.... excited... proud??!!

He was in the play pen, playing on his own and I was washing something in the bathroom. Then I heard him yelling, or more like complaining. Maybe he was tired and bored already and wanna got out from the play pen. I came out from the bathroom and when he saw me he called," Ma Ma... Ma Ma... " I was so touches and grabbed him out from the playpen, hugged him in my arms and answered him back," Yes, my little baby? Ma Ma is here."

I'm not sure he knows the meaning of "Ma Ma" or not, or maybe he just simply make some sound. Anyway, I am still happy and whenever he calls, I will response to him. He soon will know, "Ma Ma" mean mother... right? :)

It's the greatest sound on earth I ever heard...
